Brittney & Patrick { Gadsden House Wedding }

This past October, I photographed a wonderfully intimate Gadsden House wedding. Tennessee couple, Brittney and Patrick, have known each other since grade school, but did not start dating until after they graduated college. Patrick is a general contractor and Brittney is a realtor. The couple love being outdoors – specifically biking, golfing, and boating. Brittney describes Patrick’s proposal, “It was a perfect St Patricks Day and it couldn’t have been a prettier day leading into Spring. The weather was amazing and sunny. We had planned that morning to go for a walk after work then go celebrate St Patricks Day somewhere. As the day went on, I was getting busier with work and we had stumbled across a couple Predators tickets for that night. When Patrick got home from work I thought there was no way I could finish work, go for a walk, shower, then go to the preds game. With a little convincing, he got me to finish what I was doing and go for a quick walk around the Greenway. As we approached the Greenway we always go to the left to make the loop, this time I wanted to go to the right. With a little more convincing he got me to go to the left, which was towards the bridge he wanted to pop the question on. As we approached the bridge he said lets take a picture on the bridge, I thought this was a fabulous idea because I wanted to do the same thing last time we were walking. I was pulling out my camera to take a selfie of us when Patrick said ‘No, a full body picture.’ I thought no way we were going to stop someone in the middle of their workout to take a picture of us! Well, right about that time these two college aged girls walked up and he asked them if they wouldn’t mind taking our picture. I couldn’t believe he had stopped them in the middle of their work out, but they didn’t care at all. As we were about to take the picture, Patrick looked at me and said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course I said Yes! The girls did a great job and captured the entire proposal!”

For their wedding, Brittney envisioned a Charleston destination wedding that highlighted rustic elements. Handcrafted wooden benches and accent tables offered a rustic texture. This was complimented with simple and airy florals to lighten the space. A lounge set featuring a leather sofa and cattle print fur accent chairs paired with gold rimmed glass tables was another perfect fusion of rustic and classic design. Their color palette was inspired by neutrals of white and grey with hints of gold. After their courtyard ceremony, the space was flipped to allow for additional seating during the reception. At night the courtyard was illuminated with strings of cafe lights, creating a romantic Southern atmosphere. Guests were treated to several rounds of culinary treats provided by Maybank Catering. Opting for heavy hors d’oeruvres throughout the evening encourages guests to mingle and dance. As their wedding day came to a close, the couple were sent off with friends and family holding an arch of sparklers for them to dash through.
