Liz & Chris { Lowndes Grove Wedding }

I’m so excited to share the dreamiest Lowndes Grove Wedding with you today!  Lowndes Grove is a gorgeous waterfront estate located on the historic Charleston peninsula.  Surrounded by live oaks, overlooking the Ashley River it is a truly remarkable venue.  Distinguished on the National Register for Historic Places, the main house showcases 1786-era architecture with period furnishings, a large piazza and grand lawn overlooking the waterfront.  Situated on the north west side of the peninsula, the panoramic sunset views can not be beat.  It is the epitome of low country beauty!

This adorable duo met while attending USC.  They were neighbors and hit it off instantly.  A few years of long distance, a move to Charleston, and now marrying on their 9th anniversary together. What a great way to decide a wedding date!

Usually a wedding theme includes color palettes, flower choices, and linen selections, but I can say Liz and Chris’ inspiration for their wedding was family.  Each guest – whether related or not – is considered family by these two. When deciding on bridesmaids, Liz was able to narrow it down to 13.  A tough decision when wanting to include both biological and chosen family in your wedding party.  This is why it’s not so uncommon to see larger wedding parties in the South – the love for closest friends runs deep.

This family-inspired wedding is evident in the design choices, beginning with rustic family style tables that pair nicely with the surrounding oaks.  Tablescapes featured lush greens dotted with neutral toned florals.  Gold accents in the plate chargers, flatware, and table names offer a luxurious richness to the tabletop.  I simply love the unique creations by J.Lily Design from the soft, dip-dyed place cards to the glass table markers with modern calligraphy. And the cozy lounge set with a waterside view and cafe lighting is an inviting place to sit a spell after dinner concludes.

But before the festivities could begin, the couple needed to exchanged their vows on the main lawn, overlooking the waterfront just as the sun was starting to set, creating a beautiful golden glow in the background.  After the ceremony, I was sure to whisk the newlyweds away to take advantage of the golden light for some seriously dreamy portraits.

Under the twinkling string lights, Liz and Chris danced the night away with their family and friends and from the looks of it Right to Party band kept that dance floor full all night!  A beautiful sparkler departure wrapped up this perfect day, and I just want to thank Liz and Chris for choosing my team to be a part of their special day.
