Wedding Photography at The William Aiken House
About the House
The William Aiken House is a National Historic Landmark in the heart of Downtown Charleston. The grounds of this 18th century home are charming, from the garden and carriage house to the many exquisitely decorated rooms in the main house. Its cheerful yellow facade overlooks bustling King Street and couldn’t be better located. According to The William Aiken House website, Martha Stewart Weddings named The William Aiken House THE venue in the state of South Carolina for a wedding. And we couldn’t agree more!
Why Priscilla Loves Photographing at The William Aiken House
The William Aiken House is the epitome of Historic Charleston with ornately decorated Victorian styled rooms. There aren’t many places where you can be photographed on an 18th century couch in a room adorned with original, museum quality art work and antiques. The grounds are beautifully manicured and include two large oak trees and black iron gates. These bountiful options make lovely backdrops for portraits. I also like the diversity of ceremony options either beneath the arbor or in front of the Carriage House. The William Aiken House’s location makes it easy to continue the celebration by popping down the street to FISH or one of the other hotspots in Downtown Charleston.
